"This is the first time I hear Mappe3. And immediately, I feel at home; it's a happy musical space they create, blown by winds from the golden age of jazz (...). It feels authoritative, full-bodied, full of joy in the playing."
- Thomas Millroth - JAZZ/Orkesterjournalen NR 6 - 2022.

THE MOST LIVELY RECORDS OF THE YEAR - The albums that made the Lira year 2022:
"A record that just appears out of nowhere and pours out, highly idiosyncratic and fearless, like the most obvious thing in the world." - Patrik Lindgren

Nils Kristensson
is a Gothenburg-based bassist originally from Lilla Edet. With roots in rock music, he has his own obvious sound on both double and electric bass and it was after dipping his toes in several genres that he found a home in improvisation and jazz.
He plays in several constellations, such as Kira5, Jura Quartet, Mappe3, Alma Stensson Quintet, Kouts Quartet, and others.

Maria Dahlin
Born and raised in the music city of Umeå, Maria Dahlin has through her strong musical voice established herself as one of Swedens most exciting drummers. In groups such as Toppklass, KBK3 and Fartyg 6 her work shines through and leaves a mark on the music.

Martin Jäderberg
has his musical upbringing in Gävle and was early exposed to playing professionally playing on stages as Fasching, Bollnäs Jazzklubb and Gävle Jazzklubb at the age of 15. Finding his voice in the woodwind instruments, Martin has developed a strong artistic sound. Ranging from clarinet to baritone saxophone he is the spearhead of Mappe3.
Mappe3 was created out of the need to be as true as possible to one's own artistic expression. To be interrelated and comfortable with each other to the point that one can push the boundaries and that we as a collective follow the idea and impulse that leads the music. Giving great artistic freedom and space to the musicians to express their voice, and making decisions that the musician feels best benefits the music at that moment. The written music partly takes its expression from jazz in the 60s and the liberation that happened then, but also has a strong connection to Swedish jazz history and the Nordic sound. A balance between liberation and melancholy.
The album Mappe3 + jazz = <3 was supported by the Swedish Art Council. Thank you!
